The Patterson Kia Coat Drive
Patterson Kia of Arlington was pleased to provide over 540 elementary school children in the Arlington I.S.D. with over $10,000 worth of new winter coats for Christmas, 2012. We believe in supporting our community - which supports us.
2012 was a great year for us at Patterson Kia.
Our sales increased significantly in our second full year of business here in Arlington and we made some big life-choices at the dealership in 2012. Early in the year we made a commitment to conduct a year-long experiment: basically, to stop advertising.
We wondered if it might be possible in this world of "seo" and "social media" and "big data" to throw out all of the rule books and replace them with a new one: How to Win Friends and Influence People, written by Dale Carnegie in the 1930's.
Rather than rely on radio and television and billboard advertising to bring in strangers, we focused on friends - our past buyers - and asked for their referrals.
A car dealer who doesn't advertise on the radio or on television or on billboards? We know it sounds crazy, and maybe it is, but it's working.
We can afford to be very selective about whom we choose to have work with us in sales and service and parts and finance and administration. We also can give back to the community where our customers and friends live.
Sometimes our gifts are public, such as the ones you'll read about on this page; oftentimes they're private and we do not feel the need for publicity or to call attention to the receiving party.
One thing we would like everyone to know: We appreciate you and your business.
Drive Hunger Out
When we learned that Nearly 1 in 4 North Texas children live in food insecure households we were understandably upset. In the spring of 2012 we created a program called "Drive Hunger Out," and donated over 22,000 meals to the North Texas Food Bank to help end hunger in north Texas.
In 2012 Patterson Kia created the "Patterson Partners" program - a way for us to support area elementary schools. For the 2012-2013 School Year each school received a banner showing our support for their school teams as well as a check for $500.00 to show our support in assisting their school in meeting the needs of their education in this tough economy.
